The Depressed Witch

Hello Witches!

Today I wanted to just kind of talk. It’s not a terribly instructive or helpful post, I just wanted to get this off my chest.

I love my craft, really. Being a witch makes me feel so good. But when you’re struggling with depression or anxiety (or any other mental illness, I imagine), it’s so, so draining.

Witchcraft is a process that requires a lot of your own energy to help guide the energy of the universe around you. As such, every spell and ritual can take so much from you.

I hope this doesn’t come off as a complaint about the craft because I still love it. I just don’t see a ton of people talk about this aspect. And when I was a baby witch I imagined doing rituals every night. I quickly learned that wouldn’t be realistic for me. I want new witches to know that they’re not alone if they’re struggling to be consistent in their practice and that doesn’t make them less of a witch.

I don’t have a ton more to say here. I hope to have a small list of suggestions in the future but for now I’ll just say that I hope you’re all doing well and I’m proud of you.

Go in peace.
